Updates are coming, I promise! Once this semester is over and I have my new studio area set up and figured out, look forward to seeing weekly updates and more artsy fartsy stuff. I have many old projects needing revisions, and ideas out the wazoo for new projects. Down with Procrastination! >=D

More Updates, coming soon!
I have more work to throw around as soon as I can get pics taken someplace with decent lighting, my dorm room isn't one of them.

Pen & Ink Project
Okay, so for this project, we were supposed to pick from a list of different animals, combine those animals in a drawing, in some mode of transportation. So, I somehow stumbled across the idea of Donkey combined with some of the features of a Rhino, mostly the Horn and ears, lower jaw like area. Anyways, I decided this character is going to be chilling out in a Model T sort of Automobile, so here are some of my sketches leading up to my current stage at the time of this post.

I really didn't like where the car was heading, so after about 2-3 hours of looking at similar cars, hot rods, roadsters, and looking at some of the pictures I took today at a car museum a few miles down the road and drawing shapes that seemed completely wrong......I decided to stick with this idea and try making it more symmetric, and exaggerate areas like the headlights...also move the lower end up higher and try to give it more of a cartoon look, just not quite over the top cartoon like. I still would like to make the car seem realistic. At this point I also started getting very frustrated since I have never done anything like this really before, and every door I opened just ended with a dead end. But, eventually I gave in and just went with it and tried to forget about what I was wanting it to look like, and concentrating more on just getting something done.

This is where I am at currently, playing with some of the values to try to create some kind of form. I am using various references I have both found, and taken to try to get it to look believable. Hopefully by the end of today/tomorrow, I will have a sample done on Duralar with Ink and printed out onto watercolor paper so just so I can step ahead and start planning out the final outcome. Until then, I still have lots to do, I haven't even begun to render the character.
I have another project that I recently turned in that I struggled with for the last 6 weeks...I'm not at all happy with the results but it was definitely a good learning process. Since I did however get it turned in on time, I have the opportunity to re-examine and clean up, re due, fix, what have you. So, as soon as I get the project back, or maybe even sooner than that, I am going to try to get the original final illustration posted on here, then over the next few weeks, show what I have done to improve it, and hopefully make myself more content with it.
Also, within the next week or so, I should be receiving some more work back from another class and will get that all posted up ASAP, so basically, check back often. Leave Comment and Suggestions to please! Even if you hate something...or have ideas on how it can be improved, I am open to anything.

New Update.

I'm not real happy with the final result, It's not quite like I had hoped it would be, so, soon I am going to be revisiting Clint and doing a very similar, if not replica of this piece...skipping the last step of the ink resist. Although I have had a few offers from people wanting to buy this piece, or the possibility of having some prints made and then sold...so maybe it's not as bad as I think. I am my worst critic as they say.

Time to UPDATE!!!!
Okay, so I haven't been updating like I keep telling everyone. So now "It is Time."
Here is some of my recent work. (recent as in the couple of weeks or less)
The following was done on 01.18.08 in my Life Drawing Class. It was done with BBQ sauce, yes...BBQ Sauce.

The following image was done on 02.01.08 in my Life Drawing Class. This was done with CarbOthello pencils.

The Next image was done on 02.01.08 in Life Drawing after our model had to leave. It's just a quick sketch done on newsprint with charcoal.

The next 3 images are a project that I started early this morning (02.03.08) when I couldn't sleep. As I progress I will be taking more pictures of my process.
